Defining the words Ba'al, Bridegroom, and the Bride.

As we begin this study, there will no doubt, be those that will be in disagreement with the contents of this study. With that being said, even if you do not agree with it, please consider this study as just another perspective, or possibility.

Lets begin this study by first reading, "The New Covenant", as it is written in the Yah Scriptures, in Jeremiah 31:31-34

  • Jeremiah 31:31-34
  • 31 “See, the days are coming,” declares Yahuah, “when I shall make a new Covenant with the house of Yisra’ĕl and with the house of Yahuḏah,
32 not like the Covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My Covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares Yahuah.
33 “For this is the Covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ĕl after those days, declares Yahuah: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
34 “And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know Yahuah,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares Yahuah. “For I shall forgive their wickedness, and remember their sin no more.”

As we focus on Jeremiah 31:32, and Specifically on the word Husband. Lets again read verse 32, this time, in the World English Bible, then break down the word, Husband.

  • Jeremiah 31:32 (WEBA)
  • 32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which covenant of mine they broke, although I was a husband to them,” says Yahweh.

This word husband, is Strong's Number H166, ba'al, and it is our belief, that the word ba'al, does not mean husband. Keep this in mind, those same people that changed the words in our bibles, also wrote our bible dictionaries. Let's look at the true meaning of the word ba'al, as it was understood in ancient times:

Baal, or Baʿal, is a term that means "owner" or "lord" in ancient Semitic languages, and it was often used to refer to gods in the region, particularly as a title for deities associated with fertility and storms. The word can also imply rulership or dominion over something.

In order to understand Yah's True intent here, we must refer to the Torah of Yah. What does the Torah define as Marriage.

The Bible outlines marriage laws emphasizing that marriage is a sacred union established by Elohim between one man and one woman. It also includes guidelines on divorce, stating that divorce is permissible only in cases of sexual immorality (or idolatry). Matthew 19.9 [NASB]

And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” (Matthew 19:9 [NASB])

And looking up the word Adultery we find

  • [*StrongsRealGreek*]
    4202 πορνεία [PORNEI/A] {porneía} \por-ni'-ah\
from 4203; harlotry (including adultery and incest); figuratively, idolatry:--fornication.

Lets also see what the Father tells us about marriage as we go to:

  • Genesis 2:24: [NASB]
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
  • Leviticus 18:22:
You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.
  • Romans 1:26:
For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
    Romans 1:27:
and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

Truly, it is an abomination for a male to lie with a male, and likewise a woman with another woman.

ba'al does not mean husband because that would mean that Yahuah married Men, That is in direct violation to the Torah, and Yahuah (and our Messiah alike), Establish and Do the Torah, They Do Not Break the Torah. therefore, the word baal can only be defined as deity.

ba'al = deity

And there is no deity over Yahuah, our Elohim.

Here's Another case in point: Let's get the proper translation of Hosea 2:16-20

  • Hosea 2:16-20
  • 16 “And it shall be, in that day,” declares Yahuah, “that you call Me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer call Me ‘My Ba’al.’
  • 17 “And I shall remove the names of the Ba’als from her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
  • 18 “And in that day I shall make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the shamayim, and with the creeping creatures of the ground, when bow, and sword, and battle I break from the earth. And I shall make them lie down in safety.
  • 19 “And I shall take you as a bride unto Me forever, and take you as a bride unto Me in righteousness, and in right-ruling, and kindness and compassion.
  • 20 “And I shall take you as a bride unto Me in trustworthiness, and you shall know Yahuah.

First we will breakdown Hosea 2:16. Hosea 2:16 looks like this in the NASB, which is to our knowledge at this point in time a correct translation.

  • Hosea 2:16 [NASB]
  • “It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord, “That you will call Me Ishi And will no longer call Me Baali.

Lets look at several dictionaries to gain an understanding of the words [Ishi and Baali and Baal]:

Ishi Definition = man

Baali Definition = Yahuah

Now with the translations we have this is what Hosea 2:16 really says.

  •  Hosea 2:16
  • “It will come about in that day,” declares Yahuah, “That you will call Me (Strong's H376) man And will no longer call Me (Strong's H1180) Yahuah.

Again, Yah will never break His own Torah. Yah will not marry a man, as Yah is a Man (which we will talk about in a moment). This means we will need to also break down Hosea 2:19-20.

  • Hosea 2:19-20
  • 19 “And I shall take you as a bride unto Me forever, and take you as a bride unto Me in righteousness, and in right-ruling, and kindness and compassion.
  • 20 “And I shall take you as a bride unto Me in trustworthiness, and you shall know Yahuah.

Lets get a perspective here in that Yah is speaking of a New Covenant for those that make it to the kingdom. What is that new covenant? First let's take a look at the NET version of scripture for Hosea 2:19-20, which states:

  • Hosea 2:19: [NET]
  • I will commit myself to you forever; I will commit myself to you in righteousness and justice, in steadfast love and tender compassion.
  • Hosea 2:20:
  • I will commit myself to you in faithfulness; then you will acknowledge the LORD."

Here is yet another way to look at it in the Rotherham version.

  • Hosea 2:19 [Rotherham]
  • And I will take thee unto myself, unto times age-abiding,—yea I will take thee unto myself, in righteousness and in justice, and in lovingkindness, and in abounding compassion:

Let's look at the relationship this way, Just as Idolatry and Adultery are related, in that married person can commit adultery by seeking another lover, so to can a believer commit idolatry by seeking another little g god in place of our Elohim, Yahuah. Both are an abomination. Remember, Yahusha our High Priest states clearly that there will be no marriage in the Resurrection, right here in Matthew 22:30:

  • Matthew 22:30
  •  30 “For in the resurrection they do not marry, nor are they given in marriage, but are as messengers of Elohim in the shamayim.

You remember what happened to the messengers that left their first estate and took on wives, right! Let's refresh your memory. Jude 1:6:

  • Jude 1:6
  • 6 And the messengers who did not keep their own principality, but left their own dwelling, He has kept in everlasting shackles under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

When you are a forever Elohim, marriage is not required, because you live forever. Another thing to keep in mind, is, we are to be the guests of the groom, not the bride. A bride does not receive an invitation to a wedding. The guests get the invitations. John himself was considered a Friend of the Groom in John 3:29:

  • John 3:29
  •  29 “He that has the bride is the bridegroom, but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the voice of the bridegroom. So this joy of mine is complete.

Clearly the very best friend of our Messiah on the earth considers himself a Friend of the Bridegroom. John will indeed get an invitation to the wedding of the Bridegroom, as the Bridegroom's bride will be Zion, New Jerusalem, as stated clearly here in 2 Esdras 10:40-44

  • 2 Esdras 10:40-44
  • 40 “This therefore is the meaning of the vision which you recently saw:
  • 41 “You saw a woman mourning, and you began to comfort her;
  • 42 but now you see the likeness of the woman no more, but a built city appeared to you.
  • 43 “And whereas she told you of the death of her son, this is the interpretation:
  • 44 “This woman, whom you saw is Tsiyon; and when she spoke to you, even she whom you see as a built city,

Verse 44 tells us that Zion is the Bride, lets get a witness to exactly who the Bride is, in Revelation 21:2:

  • Revelation 21:2
  • 2 And I, Yoḥanan, saw the qodesh city, renewed Yerushalayim, coming down out of the shamayim from Elohim, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

That Husband is none other than Yahusha our Messiah and High Priest

Need more? Lets go to (Revelation of John 19:8 [NASB])

It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen , bright and clean ; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints . (Revelation of John 19:8 [NASB])

Think about it, it is the Righteousness of the Saints that adorns the Bride.

With all of this being said. What is Yahuah telling us here? Yah is speaking of a Covenant, a New or Renewed Covenant which is found in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which we read in the beginning of this article. and the new covenant is also found in the New Testament as well. Hebrews 8:8-12, which states:

  •  Hebrews 8:8-12
  • 8 For finding fault with them, He says, “See, the days are coming,” says Yahuah, “when I shall conclude with the house of Yisra’ĕl and with the house of Yahuḏah, a Renewed Covenant,
  • 9 not according to the Covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Mitsrayim, because they did not continue in My Covenant, and I disregarded them,” says Yahuah.
  • 10 “Because this is the Covenant that I shall make with the house of Yisra’ĕl after those days, says Yahuah, giving My Laws in their mind, and I shall write them on their hearts, and I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
  • 11 “And they shall by no means teach each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know Yahuah,’ because they all shall know Me, from the least
  • of them to the greatest of them.
  • 12 “Because I shall forgive their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I shall no longer remember.”

Those of us that endure to the end will indeed have Yah's Torah written in our hearts and our minds. Now that we have an understanding of who the Bridegroom and who the Bride is, we can take a fresh look at Hosea 2:16. We will no longer call Yahuah our Elohim, because we will all be Elohim. Are we equal? of course not, there is an hierarchy in the heavens. Yah is the Highest of the High. And Yahusha is the Highest of High's, High Priest. There is none higher, and at that point, we will have been changed from mortal to immortal beings. We will have put off the perishable, and put on the imperishable, per 1Corinthians 15:53.

  • I Corinthians 15:53:
For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Also please consider as we mentioned earlier in this article, that we were made in His image according to Genesis 1:27.

  • Genesis 1:27:
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

In addition, we believe through study, that the word "Husband" has been placed where it was, out of context, as we discovered. Could it have been placed there in an effort to lead us astray? Possibly. Remember, Yah will not break His own Torah. Please take time to Study The Torah of our Elohim. You will find many words that have been twisted to the demise of the persons that Twisted them. Therefore, backing up to Jeremiah 31:31-34, in context, it should read as follows.

  • Jeremiah 31:31-34
  • 31 “See, the days are coming,” declares Yahuah, “when I shall make a new Covenant with the house of Yisra’ĕl and with the house of Yahuḏah,
  • 32 not like the Covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My Covenant which they broke, though I was a ba'al, (deity) to them,” declares Yahuah.
  • 33 “For this is the Covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ĕl after those days, declares Yahuah: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.
  • 34 “And no longer shall they teach, each one his neighbour, and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know Yahuah,’ for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares Yahuah. “For I shall forgive their wickedness, and remember their sin no more.”

We also want you to remember that the New Covenant, will not be a reality until we are resurrected into the Kingdom of Yahuah our Elohim, with Yahusha our Messiah, as our High Priest. This is evidenced by the fact that we are all still NOT in one mind and one accord with our Knowledge of the Torah of our Elohim, Yahuah.

It is not Yahuah that makes it difficult to understand the Written Word, it is Man's Twisted Interpretation into their perspective languages that makes the Word confusing. Also the fact that Man has decided for us, what is, and is not, canon. We were warned of this in 1 Enoch 104:10-13

  • 1 Enoch 104:10-13
  • 10 And now I know this mystery, that sinners will change and pervert the Words of righteousness in many ways, and will speak wicked words, and lie, and practice great deceits, and write books concerning their words.
  • 11 But when they write down truthfully all my words in their languages, and do not change or diminish ought from my words but write them all down truthfully - all that I first witnessed concerning them.
  • 12 Then, I know another mystery, that books will be given to the righteous and the wise to become a cause of joy and uprightness and much wisdom.
  • 13 “And to them shall the books be given, and they shall believe in them and rejoice over them, and then all the righteous who have learned from them - all the paths of uprightness - shall be recompensed.”

It has become apparent to us, through study, that this Perfect Scripture will not be given out until after the first resurrection.

We hope and pray that this has been an encouragement to you in your studies as well. May the Blessings of Yahuah our Elohim, and Yahusha our Messiah be over you.

Beyond The Purple Cloth

🌿 Reflecting on Easter and the Deeper Truth of Passover

Growing up, Easter was pure magic for me. I still remember those Sunday morning church services in our sanctuary: the large cross at the front draped in a satin purple cloth, my grandfather Richard Emmons standing in the balcony above, playing his trumpet. The notes would echo through the huge chamber like a heavenly call, and as he played that triumphant tune, the purple cloth would slowly rise and float off the cross, revealing the symbol of resurrection. It was emotional, beautiful, full of wonder.

After service, we’d hunt for brightly colored eggs hidden around the church yard, get huge chocolate bunnies to take home, and discover Easter baskets overflowing with treats left by the “Easter Bunny.” I even remember dreaming as a kid (around 7 or 8 yrs old) about a giant Easter Bunny hopping in our front yard! Those traditions felt joyful and innocent, and I cherish the family memories tied to them.

But as I’ve grown older, now in my 60’s, and spent time really studying the Scriptures, my eyes have opened to something deeper and more profound.

What we call “Easter” today isn’t exactly what the Bible describes for the resurrection of our Savior, Yahusha/Yahshua/Jesus.

He died during Passover—the biblical feast YAH commanded forever in Exodus 12 (TS2009). A perfect, unblemished lamb was slain, its blood applied so death would pass over obedient homes. That deliverance from Egypt was a shadow pointing to the greater redemption through Messiah.

Yahusha gathered His disciples for the Passover meal (Matthew 26), broke bread and shared wine, saying, “This is My body… This is My blood of the renewed covenant.” Then, as our perfect Passover Lamb, He was sacrificed, right in line with the timing of the Temple lambs; so we could be set free from sin and death.

As 1 Corinthians 5:7 (TS2009) beautifully puts it: “For indeed Messiah, our Pĕsaḥ (Passover), was sacrificed for us.”

Passover isn’t “Jewish”; it’s one of YAH’s Appointed Feasts (moedim), a bridge directly to the resurrection.

One thing that stood out to me is the timing. Scripture says Yahusha would be “three days and three nights in the heart of the earth,” like Jonah in the fish (Matthew 12:40). Yet the common Good Friday to Easter Sunday timeline doesn’t add up to three full days and three full nights.

Many believers now see His crucifixion aligning more closely with the Passover preparation, leading to resurrection at the end of the weekly Sabbath; fulfilling the sign exactly.

These man-made additions, like colored eggs, the Easter Bunny, and even the name “Easter” itself, have roots in ancient spring festivals and fertility symbols, not in Scripture. They’re traditions of men, and the Word warns us about elevating them above YAH’s commands.

In Mark 7:6-9 (TS2009), Yahusha quotes Isaiah: “This people respect Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men.” He adds, “For laying aside the command of Elohim, you hold fast the tradition of men… Well do you set aside the command of Elohim, in order to guard your tradition.”

Colossians 2:8 echoes: “See to it that no one makes a prey of you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men… and not according to Messiah.”

I’m not sharing this to judge or take away anyone’s joy, I participated in all those Easter traditions for decades, and they meant a lot in my family. But now I see how much richer it is to focus on what YAH actually appointed: remembering Passover in the name of our Messiah, the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world.

This has also led me to reflect humbly on traditions in Judaism as well. Just as many Christian practices add elements not found in Scripture, rabbinic Judaism includes oral traditions and interpretations (like those in the Talmud) that go beyond the written Torah YAH gave.

Both Christianity and Judaism, in their organized forms, have layered on man-made customs over time.

In the end, what we truly need is simply YAH’s Word, His pure instructions as revealed in Scripture and to walk in His ways as best we understand them through the whole counsel of the Bible, led by His Spirit.

It’s a return to the simple, direct relationship with YAH that Messiah modeled and fulfilled.

YAH desires worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Truth doesn’t need fables or added symbols; it stands strong on its own.

What’s more important to pass on to our children: man-made stories, or the deep, eternal meaning of YAH’s deliverance through His Son?

This season, I’m humbly choosing to honor the biblical Passover and resurrection as Scripture presents it. It’s been life-changing for me, and I pray it encourages you to search the Word for yourself.

What a beautiful bridge between the Old and Renewed Covenant!

Much love, and may we all grow closer to YAH’s truth. 🌿

Oh Watch Therefore

The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matt 25:1-13)

Yahshua/Jesus tells a story of ten maidens waiting for the Bridegroom to arrive for the wedding feast.

Five were wise, they brought extra oil for their lamps. Five were foolish, they didn’t prepare.

The Bridegroom is Yahshua the Messiah, returning unexpectedly.

The ten virgins/maidens are those (you and me/us)  professing faith, waiting for His coming. (believers, a remnant of Israel; not the bride herself).

Lamps are light of the Torah / Word of Elohim (Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp to my feet”).

Oil is the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), the anointing that keeps our light burning strong through the long wait.

The delay is the time between Yahshua’s first coming and His return; we all grow weary, but preparation matters!

Behold, the Bridegroom comes!” (Echoes the Shofar of Yom Teruah, signaling resurrection & ingathering)

The wedding feast is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb and only the ready enter; the door shuts forever.

The foolish begged for oil, but you can’t borrow someone else’s relationship with the Ruach. While they went to buy, (it also cannot be bought) the Bridegroom came and the wise went in, and the door was shut.

Yahshua’s words hit hard: “I do not know you.”

We need a genuine, Spirit-filled walk.

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also does seek such to worship Him. Elohim is Spirit, and those who worship Him need to worship in spirit and truth.”

TS2009 (Yoḥanan/John 4:23–24)

“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Adam comes.” (Matt. 25:13 TS2009)

Be filled with the Ruach daily. Walk in Torah obedience. Stay alert!

The Bridegroom is coming…will your lamp still be burning bright?

Choose Life

Exo 20:5 – יהוה warns against idolatry: ‘I am a jealous Ěl, visiting (פָּקַד / pâqad) the crookedness of the fathers on the children to the 3rd & 4th generations of those who hate Me.’

‘Visiting’ isn’t just punishment…it means to oversee, care for, attend to, even search out.

YAH isn’t distant; He’s zealous for us, visiting to see if we’ve awakened to the crookedness! He cares, calls, and confronts so we can repent and break the cycle.

Ezekiel 18 makes it clear: He doesn’t punish kids for parents’ sins if they turn to righteousness. Each stands on their own choices.

It’s a wake-up call against idolatry… but also an invitation to restoration and LIFE 🙌🕊️
